Dawe Brothers’ story began in the 1950s when local carpenter, Reginald Dawe, was asked to make a coffin and arrange the funeral for one of the residents of a nursing home in which he was working.
He did such a good job that he was asked to undertake more funerals, and his reputation for care and quality spread across Herefordshire.
Some 60 years later, Dawe Brothers has expanded to provide four branches in Hereford, Ledbury and Ross-on-Wye, but the care and attention to detail that Reginald brought to arranging funerals remains at the heart of what we do.
Reginald continued at the helm of the growing business until 1997, when failing health led him to hand over the reins to younger members, some of whom remain an integral part of the team today. Reginald remained actively involved as a senior funeral director and consultant until six months before he died in 2003, aged 81.
Our main office, in Westfaling Street, Hereford, remains in Reginald’s former home, although it has been extensively modernised and expanded to provide the facilities and services families need when organising a funeral for their loved one.
Our staff are local residents and we take pride in supporting local charities, details of which are displayed in our branch windows. We regularly organise and participate in fundraising activities, and offer our premises, free of charge, for local people to meet and help each other whatever the cause or need.
We offer a range of options to meet the needs of all faiths and non-religious funerals, with a clear pricing structure.
For those who wish to ease the burden on their families, and secure today’s prices, Dawe Brothers Funeral Directors offer an affordable prepaid funeral plan, Choice.
If you wish to discuss planning a funeral, or our Choice plan, we can arrange to see you at your local branch or visit you at home. The team at Dawe Brothers is available at the end of a phone 24 hours a day, so you can call your local branch whenever you need our support.
